There’s one thing that all loyal Teen.com readers know for sure — we completely love Bella Thorne! Whether we need beauty advice or a good ol’ LOL-sesh, BT is our go-to girl!
We recently got to hang out with Bella at a super-fun party for the launch of Candie’s Holiday & Resorts collections, and like true besties, we chatted about EVERYTHING!
From her upcoming movie, The DUFF, and her obsession with Mae Whitman to what really went down during her brief breakup with Tristan Klier, nothing was off the table! Click through the gallery below to check out our entire with the ever fabulous 17 year old!
We saw The DUFF trailer and are SO excited for the film! What can you tell us about the movie?
"It was such a fun movie to film. I loved being a part of it. [The trailer is] SO cute and it’s still young enough, but it’s not too young. It’s a great mix!"

It seems like you had a great time working with people like Mae Whitman!
"I LOVE Mae! She’s the funniest person. If she doesn’t like something, or doesn’t believe it’s true to her character or to mine, she’ll say something about it. She’ll be like, ‘no, sorry!’ She kept talking about Taylor Swift’s new album when we were working together, too. She’s in love with it. She’s amazing. I’m in love with Mae. We had all these weird, inappropriate jokes on set. She’s down to earth and funny and real. She’s a really old soul."

We're obsessed with Candie's new Holiday and Resorts collections! What are some of your favorite pieces from the lines?
"I like the pleated skirt. I think it’s so cute! I’d wear it with like a solid yellow top and some espadrilles. I’m obsessed with the sweater dress. I wore it with fishnets and boots and a leather jacket. I love the leather jackets, too. And I LOVE the sweaters! Sweaters with black leather jeans and boots is totally my everyday style.”

How has your style evolved over the years?
"It’s gone from crazy to indie to clean and classic and now it’s not as classic. Day to day I wear black leather jeans, boots or Converse, and that’s basically it. It’s more grungy than it was, but not SUPER grungy."

Since you seem to keep things pretty simple, how do you spice up your outfits?
"I think shoes can spice up any outfit. If you want to spice up a pair of jeans, girl, throw on some strappy, sexy heels and a leather jacket on top of it! No matter what guys say, most of them like a leather jacket [rather than something frilly]. They don’t like when you look like you’re trying. I always used to try to make people like me and try with my style, and now I’m just like, ‘eh, whatever!’ I’m not trying. I’m just simple."

We can't believe the holidays are coming up! Do you have any plans?
"It’s so hard to make holiday plans because the book just came out and the music just came out and I’ve been working so much! I didn’t realize it was all coming out all at once. For Christmas we might go back to Miami, which is my hometown. We were just there and we loved it. We might go on a cruise, though. It’s so hard to do, though, with everything that’s going on."

Oh yeah! We saw some paparazzi pictures of you on the beach in Miami.
"I was like, ‘oh, great…’ Being photographed when you don’t have approval and you’re showing so much skin makes you feel so uncomfortable. Everyone doesn’t feel confident about themselves all the time; I don’t care what anyone says! Everyone has something they don’t like about themselves, so when you’re being photographed like that you just feel so awkward and uncomfortable."

Do you have any holiday traditions?
"Not really. My family doesn’t really stick to traditions. Ever since my father passed away, we kinda stay away from it. We used to just do under-the-tree type things all the time, but now we do different things. We’ve gone to Big Bear, we’ve done snow activities…and I can’t do snow activities! I’m afraid of heights so I can’t even ski or anything! Whenever we do that I’m just like freezing standing there. I’m more of a summer person, so I’m happy that this year we might go to Miami."

And you just mentioned your music — CONGRATS!!
"Thanks! I've gotten so much positive feedback! I don’t want to say I’m surprised, but I’m really happy. The music was kind of random for me. I don’t want to be a pop star. That’s not what I’m going for. The music is just another way for me to express myself and I love music personally. It can speak to you so differently than a lot of other things can."

Aw, were you really surprised that people loved it?
"OMG, yes! Tons of people like the song, ‘One More Night!’ I had no idea that that song would get that much attention! The only song I wrote on the album is ‘Jersey,’ and I have a really cool remix coming with a certain rapper that’s gonna be SO freakin’ cool! Bella P., my brother’s girlfriend whose name is also Bella, texted me and was like, ‘DUDE! Where’s the remix?! Why isn’t it on your album?’ Because she heard it already. I’m so excited to release it."

We asked your fans what they wanted to know during this interview, and so many said relationship advice! How do you move past hard times in a romance?
"You know, you gotta look deep, deep, deep down. Not just in yourself, but in them, too. It’s tough. I can’t give you advice that’s guaranteed to save your relationship. All I can do is give advice that might help you. For me, love is about loving each other AND hating each other. Sometimes everything the other person does makes you annoyed! You’re just like, ‘why are you tapping your foot like that?! Ugh!’ You go through the stages. Sometimes you just hate each other. But you have to keep going back because sooner or later you’re going to end up back in the honeymoon, ‘I love you so much,’ stage."

What have you learned about love in the past year or so?
"Love isn’t about the hype and the romance and the gifts and the flowers. Love is about if you feel lonely or not when you go home. Do you have someone you can stay with on the phone all night? Someone that can come over and snuggle you to sleep? Someone you can pop your pimples in front of? THAT’S true love! When someone can see you with all your flaws and still love you, THAT’S love."

So you believe in second chances?
"Yes, definitely! You have to move on sometimes. Everyone makes mistakes and mistakes make you human. That quote is so beyond true. I’ve learned that in the last six months to a year. I didn’t realize that before, and now I definitely do."
