2017 is going to be a CRAZY year for book adaptations. We already broke down the novels you’ve got to start reading before they hit theaters next year, but since the success of shows like Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries and Game of Thrones, turning awesome books into even better TV shows seems to be the thing to do.

In 2016 alone, we’ve gotten new book-to-TV-classics like Shadowhunters, The 100 and The Shannara Chronicles and looking at the roster for 2017, it’ll be another great year for book adaptations. Keep reading to see six novels and series that are coming to your TV (or more realistically, streaming on your laptop) soon — better start reading these ASAP.

Famous in Love by Rebecca Sterle

Like some other Freeform shows that were based on books, Rebecca's book series will be joining the channel formerly known as ABC Family in April 2017.

The new show will star Disney's Bella Thorne and Carter Jenkins, and follows the story of an ordinary girl who gets cast in a big Hollywood movie. Looks like the book's author worked with the creator of Pretty Little Liars, I. Marlene King to create the TV version, so you KNOW it's gonna be good.

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

This YA novel is the devastating tale of a teenager who decides to commit suicide and chooses to leave behind 13 tapes describing how different people contributed to her decision to take her own life. Selena Gomez was such a fan of the book that she and her mother pushed for the show to become a movie and the actress originally signed on to be the star.

However, when Universal Pictures sold the rights to the story to Netflix, Sel still wanted to be a part of the series — just not as the lead role. She now serves as an executive producer and the main character is being played by Katherine Langford. Miles Heizer (from Parenthood and Nerve) and Christian Navarro will also be in the Netflix Original.

A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket

Even though the movie-adaptation of this series (with Jim Carrey) was kind of a dud, we could not have been more excited when Netflix announced they'd be scooping up these books to turn into a brand-new TV show.

The Netflix Original will premiere on January 13, 2017, and stars Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf.

99 Days by Katie Cotugno

In February 2016, MTV announced that they'd be taking Katie's book about a girl who's spending the summer with her new boyfriend and his brother, who she recently dumped, and turning it into a scripted series! The network says the show will be a comedy but with that kind of plot line, you can bet there will be some drama, too!

The Golden Compass: His Dark Materials Series by Philip Pullman

Like A Series of Unfortunate Events, His Dark Materials also had a not-so-successful film franchise, but hopefully the TV series, adapted by BBC, will revive the story for the fans.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the show will premiere until late 2017 and the producers have opted out of releasing any casting information about the show thus far.

Dakota Blue Richards from the UK version of Skins has expressed interest in being a part of the series, as she played Lyra in the film! The author tweeted and said her inclusion in the show would be "nice," but that's as much info as he gave us! HOPEFULLY more casting decisions will come out soon.

Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery

Since the book was written in 1908, it's become somewhat of a classic coming-of-age tale and has inspired a ton of adaptations. 12 TV movies, 4 films and one modernized novel later — plus this new TV show, Anne, is the SIXTH television version of the story. The show will air on CBC om Canada, but Netflix will add the series to its worldwide programming next year.
